Oklahoma's state capitol is the only one in the world with an oil drilled beneath it, For 85 years the building remained unfinished. The original 1914 plans for the capitol included a dome, which was not added until the dome construction began in August 2001. The new dome was completed and dedicated in 2002 on Statehood Day , November 16.
