Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, Germany

The castle of Johannisburg (Schloss Johannisburg) in Aschaffenburg  was erected between 1605 and 1614 by Georg Ridinger. Until 1803, it was the second residence of the prince bishop of Mainz. It is constructed of red  sandstine, the typical building material of the area around Aschaffenburg.

Antwerp, Belgium

Het Steen - medieval fortress in the old city centre of Antwerp, one of Europe's biggest ports. Built after the Viking incursions in the early Middle Ages ( 1200-25) as the first stone fortress of Antwerp, Het Steen is Antwerp's oldest building and used to be its oldest urban centre.
