Amerika, Saxony, Germany

Amerika is a village in Saxony and a district of the city of Penig. As a small village of 120 residents, it is known merely for its name, the German word for America, which was given to it in the 19th century. In 1836, a spinning factory was built at a pond. The workers were not allowed to use the official road to get there, hence they had to cross the pond using boats. As "going over the pond" at those times was chiefly understood as emigrating to America, the factory was named "Amerika" by the workers. The name became official when in 1876 (incidentally, the centennial of the United States of America) the village's railway station was named "Amerika".

Bamburgh, England, UK

Bamburgh is a large village and civil parish on the coast of Northumberland, England. It has a population of 454.
It is notable for two reasons: the imposing Bamburgh Castle, overlooking the beach, seat of the former Kings of Northumbria, and at present owned by the Armstrong family and its association with the Victorian heroine, Grace Darling, who is buried there.
Bamburgh Castle, then called Din Guardi, may have been the capital of the Brythonic kingdom of Bryneich between about AD 420 and 547. In 547 the castle was taken by the invading Angles led by Ida son of Eoppa and was renamed Bebbanburgh by one of his successors, Æthelfrith, after Æthelfrith's wife Bebba, according to the Historia Brittonum. From then onwards the castle became the capital of the Anglian kingdom of Bernicia until it merged with its southern neighbour, Deira, in 634. After the two realms united as Northumbria the capital was moved to York.

Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany

My first idea of Eisenach is Wartburg. But not only a big castle  called Wartburg in this town, where Martin Luter  lived. It is a car Wartburg produced here in Automobilwerk Eisenach  (AWE) in GDR times. It was called "A Mercedes of the East", was very popular car in Eastern block countries.  In town live about 42000 inhabitants.
